World's best new golf course 2020.
Hoiana Shores Golf Club is set right on the shoreline. A stunning dune scapped course based in central Vietnam. The course is a modern links design, laid out on a treeless expanse of pure sand, with no fewer than 5 holes coming into direct contact with the East Sea.
In 2015, Turfgrass® were retained by Robert Trent Jones II, LLC to provide Agronomic Services for the development of a new golf resort on this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The links design with limited vegetation and rolling dunes required specific techniques to preserve the existing dune and sand pine terrain. The course earned World’s Best New Course honors for 2020.
Project Outcome
Set right on the shoreline of Hoi An in central Vietnam, (45 minutes south of Danang International Airport) the course is a links design with limited vegetation and rolling dunes.
Course building techniques preserved the existing dune and sand pine terrain making holes play through the Casuarina trees and brush native to the area. Other holes, especially the finishing ones, come up right along the seas and play inside the coastal dunes.
Hole 16 is one of the courses best holes and is one of four located right on the water’s edge.
The golf experience is first-class with facilities and service characteristic of a 5-star luxury resort, or better. Hoiana Shores makes a welcome addition to the golf coast Vietnam, which is already known for the best golf in Vietnam.
