A Swiss businessman with a high net worth, is recruiting a Head Greenkeeper for his domestic residence in Nyon, Switzerland.  The role will involve the maintenance and management of an ultra-high-end, private practice academy, and a Wimbledon specification tennis court. Maintenance of the facility is expected to be in line with the highest international standard. Resources to achieve this will be provided. The ideal candidate will have golf course management experience. Spoken and written French is an advantage, but not a necessity.  

The package for the successful candidate will include:

  • Salary of 84,000 CHF

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Qualification in Turfgrass Management.
  • Spraying Certificates.
  • Good working knowledge of fine turf machinery and automatic irrigation systems, combined with knowledge of the repair and maintenance of associated parts.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of management and communication skills, and leadership within their role.
  • Experience of tournament preparation.
  • Eye for detail and a proactive approach.
  • Previous experience as a Head Greenkeeper is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the care and maintenance of the golf academy and tennis court to the highest international standards.
  • Assist in the planning, organisation and direction of the Agronomy Programme.
  • Plan and allocate work to other greens staff.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of modern advances in materials, methods and the technology of greenkeeping.
  • Maintain and promote healthy and safe working practices.
  • Other duties, which may be assigned from time to time, of a comparable level of responsibility and conform to the general character of the role.
  • Report to the Head Gardener, Swiss Property Manager and Turfgrass® on a weekly basis.
  • Set up and maintain machinery.
  • Understand and prepare budgets.
  • Manage the operation of SubAir, Soil Scout, POGO and a modern fleet of TORO equipment.
